Seville is pure, unapologetic passion. Flamenco performances in intimate tablaos, the jaw-dropping Moorish Alcázar, the world's largest Gothic cathedral, and the tradition of getting free tapas with every single beer — it all adds up to an absolutely overwhelming experience. This is Spain's hottest city in every sense.
Seville is the soul of Andalusia. The neighborhoods of Santa Cruz, Triana and La Macarena deliver Mudéjar architecture, vibrant hand-painted tiles, flower-filled courtyards and nonstop street life. Semana Santa (Holy Week) and the Feria de Abril are hands-down two of Europe's most spectacular festivals.
March through May and October-November are golden. Summer is genuinely brutal — we're talking 113°F. Semana Santa (Easter) and Feria de Abril are absolutely unmissable if you can swing the timing.
Free tapas with every beer — this is really a thing and it's amazing. Jamón ibérico, gazpacho, salmorejo, pescaíto frito, spinach with chickpeas and oxtail stew (cola de toro). Head to Triana for the most authentic tapas crawl.
Santa Cruz for the historic old town. Triana for tapas and flamenco (this is where it originated). La Macarena for real local vibes. Alameda de Hércules for the nightlife and bar scene.
Seville Airport (SVQ) is 25 minutes from downtown by EA bus. Santa Justa station has AVE bullet trains to Madrid (2.5 hrs), Córdoba (45 min) and Málaga (2 hrs).
